Team: Liberty University ACHA D2 Freshman

Hometown: Avon, Ohio

Position: Right Wing

Birth Year: 1998

Height: 6’4”

Weight: 205

Chosen Attribute: Integrity

Why is this important to you?

Integrity is a fundamental attribute that defines character. I was once told, true integrity is how one behaves when no one else is watching; choices, decisions, and actions not varying based on who you are with or who is watching. For this reason, integrity can define character and why this attribute is so important to me.

The first impression is one of the biggest factors in a person’s long term opinion of someone. It only takes one wrong encounter for someone’s reputation to be affected. In hockey, playing with integrity means playing the game within the rules and not playing “behind the play”.

I strive to compete this way so I can stand out as an athlete who is known for playing with integrity and so bring glorify to God with my performance. Also, hockey is only part of life. Each opportunity to make good choices on the ice, when under pressure with emotions running high, builds conviction for when I am faced with challenges and decisions off the ice.

Have you been involved with FCA or FCA Hockey in the past? What has been your experience with us? How has FCA Hockey impacted you?

I have been involved in FCA for five years now, including weeklong camps at Hagerstown, Team FCA, the Chowder Cup, Pro/College camp, huddles, and the advisory and mentorship program. I have had impactful and life changing experiences at each event I have attended.

From rededicating my life, to being baptized, FCA has helped develop my hockey skills but also been instrumental in turning me towards God and a follower of Jesus – “A follower of Jesus that happens to play hockey, not a hockey player that happens to follow Jesus.” The staff at FCA has helped establish what my parents have taught me; to live and play for God each moment of every day.

What is your favorite scripture verse? Why is this important to you?

Romans 1:16

My favorite verse is Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…”

The hockey world is a difficult place for Christians to live out their faith. The temptations and situations we find ourselves in constantly make us decide whether we will "act the part" or stand out and stay strong in what we believe. I personally struggled with this, standing out as someone who was different but trying to “fit in”.

FCA helped teach me to embrace standing out and to strive to stand out for the Kingdom. I have had this verse in different social media profiles since my first FCA camp to help me remember who I am and to proclaim to others what I believe.

How did you hear about FCA Hockey?

I came across FCA in 2014. My mother was exploring Christian colleges with hockey programs and she spoke directly to Coach Burggraf, with Bethel University. He told us about FCA and we have been involved ever since.

What else should we know about you (future goals in hockey, family members, what church do you go to, favorite stuff outside of hockey, etc.)

Playing NCAA D1 has been a goal of mine for years – it was my dream. I had slower start to the AAA level, only starting my Junior year of high school. By my Senior year, I played for the Cleveland Barons in the Tier 1 Elite league, and I thought I was one step closer to reaching my dream. But during the season, I had several major injuries that I unfortunately continued to play on. By the time playoffs and districts came, I was playing with a partially torn ACL, rotator cuff, AC joint, and a torn meniscus in my knee and tendon in my hand.

I underwent a surgery for my meniscus and they removed most of it. They said with these results and injuries I may never be able to play again. I underwent stem cell and Prolo procedures for my hand, shoulder, and knee, still with no certainty of playing again. During a Lance Wallnau, 7MGen camp in the summer of 2017, I heard from the Lord in a prophetic way that I would continue to play hockey and use it as my mission field to impact lives for Him. Now my goal and dream is to play for Christ and play where He wants me.

Outside of hockey, I greatly enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and wakeboarding, which I love doing with my three older sisters, Christina, Micaela, and Ariella, my younger brother, Josiah, and my parents.

I attend The Church of the Open Door, in Elyria, Ohio with my family, aunt, and grandparents, who have also all been instrumental contributors in my walk with Christ.
